Jackson Burnside III, Native Son is the forth film in a series about artists from the Bahamas. I love everything about Jackson Burnside III, so creating music for the story of his life was both an honor and a pleasure. This film won the BIFF Bahamian Oscar Award Best Feature Documentary 2013.

Islands of life was a very fun film to score! I had always wanted to compose music for a nature documentary, having grown up with Jacques Cousteau and National Geographic specials. I tried to respect that tradition with a variety of approaches. This film allowed me to show more of my abilities than any previous single project. This film won the Spirit of Independents award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival 2011.
Description
Islands of Life is a feature documentary which explores the spectacular wildlife and habitats on the islands, the rich history of the nation and the vibrant culture of the people who live there.

This film won the First Look prize for Best Feature at the Bahamas international Film Festival 2011.
Description
Amos Ferguson, Match me if you can, pays tribute to this highly spiritual Bahamian intuitive artist known for his brilliantly colored paintings of island ritual, fauna, flora & scenes from the Bible.

The Heretics was scored by the rock legend June Millington, but I was able to contributed three cues. This great documentary chronicles the efforts of a group of women artists in the 1970's who wanted to make their voices heard in a environment dominated and controlled by men. Their work changed to the art world forever.
Description
The Heretics uncovers the inside story of the Second Wave of the Women's Movement for the first time in a feature film or video. Joan Braderman, director and narrator, follows her dream of becoming a filmmaker to New York City in 1971. By chance, she joins a feminist art collective at the epicenter of the 1970's art world in lower Manhattan. In her first person account, THE HERETICS charts the history of a feminist collective from the inside out.

"Carlos" (2010)
Produced, Directed, Photographed, and Edited by Scott Hancock
Original Score by Tony Silva
|
Carlos is a short documentary about a Carlos Vega, who originally came from Ecuador. I created the score based on the music from that country. My father is from Chile, which has similar musical tradition, so it was very familiar and natural for me to compose in this style.
Description
Carlos is a short documentary film about Carlos Vega, an activist for Latino rights in the City of Holyoke, Massachusetts. He spent his whole life fighting to give a voice to those who had none. His efforts have help to empower the under-class the city of Holyoke and set the stage transformations that continue to this day.
